Hi Alan,
About AIM and the terme of service.I agree with you that encryption could be made between 2 clients. But this requires that the 2 clients have an encryption plugin in AIM.
Something I fear is that ICQ term of service may change also, as ICQ belong today to AOL, and the protocol of booth IM are now almost 100% merged... Ahum....
Such behavior is not uncommon. In France, France Telecom (the national phone company) does this when you subscribe for a phone line. When you want a phone line, you must agree that all your data can be used for marketing, or for selling to other companies. You can't say no, or you can't get a phone wire to your home :) Cool, he ? !
