Cisco Planning 4.2Ghz Wi-Fi?
A reliable source indicates that Cisco, the company that owns Linksys, is currently developing a mobile web wi-fi standard that uses the 4.2Ghz spectrum. In addition, speeds may be as fast as 500 Mbps, closing the gap between wireless and terrestrial speeds even further. This new standard could give Linksys routers an edge over the market, which is currently based upon the 802.11g wi-fi standard, offering top speeds of only about 100 Mbps. The 4.2Ghz standard is still in development, and it is unknown how soon to expect it.
