- iTunes Music Store Offering New Comedy Central Programming
- New Titles Include:
- The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Sourth Park, The Showbiz Show, Mind of Mencia, Best of Comedy Central Stand-Up, and Drawn Together
- Both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report offer new "Multi-Pass" subscription options
- For $9.99, the Multi-Pass offers the most recent episode as well as the next 15 new episodes, downloaded as they become available
- Microsoft Gives Apple Security Advice
- Microsoft security response team manager Stephen Toulouse:
- Apple's security mailing list fails to "cover when there are new versions available when a bug is introduced by the update"
- Toulouse also criticized Apple for not using RSS to announce security updates
- Also said "We've learned the lesson of getting out there fast and providing clear prescriptive guidance."
- Apple "will have to seek outside expertise in the form of a head of security communications in the next 12 months. Apple needs a person steeped in security issues."

- Encyclopedia Britannica Refutes Comparison to Wikipedia
- Last December the journal Nature conducted a comparative study of the accuracy of Wikipedia and Encyclopedia Britannica
- Nature found 123 errors in a selection of Britannica entries, and 162 errors in the same entries on Wikipedia
- Britannica's publisher released this week a 20-page response to the Nature article
- The response challenged many of the cited errors, and demanded a full retraction of the article
- Recently, Britannica's monthly fee business model has been suffering with the popularity of Wikipedia and other free internet sources
- Britannica's remaining advantage was its renowned accuracy, an image this rebuttal seeks to maintain

- Yahoo! Launches VoIP Service
- Implemented through the Yahoo! Messenger service already in existence
- Free audio chatting was already a feature of Yahoo! Messenger
- Now Yahoo! is offering rates of about 2 cents / minute to call landline or cell phones
- Similar to SkypeOut which has a global rate of 2.1 cents / minute
- Also offering a $25/year service similar to SkypeIn, where the user is assigned a phone number that any conventional phone can call
- SkypeIn charges about $36/year
- Currently about 75 million people worldwide use Skype, and 60 million use some aspect of Yahoo! Messenger

- Delays for Windows Vista and Office 2007 Continue
- Has been almost 5 years since Windows XP arrived
- Microsoft has begun to cut back on the amount and scope of Vista's features to get it to market sooner
- Microsoft now says it will finish work on Office and Vista by the end of this year
- Will ship Office 2007 to business customers under the volume-licensing program as early as October
- For general consumers, both products are planned to ship in January of 2007
